LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville-based bar and restaurant will open a third location in southern Indiana later this year.
The co-owners of the Old Louisville Tavern & Grill and Hillcrest Tavern announced plans to open a new location in downtown New Albany, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
Dan Borsch and Scott Lukemire made the announcement Jan. 2 in a post on the Old Louisville Tavern Facebook page.
"We can't tell you how excited we are to be bringing our Neighborhood Tavern to New Albany," the post read. "We are excited to get to work and be creative with our new culinary home to bring you as many of your favorite items as we can serve out of our space."
The location at 114 East Market Street in New Albany was most recently home to Pints & Union, which relocated to Bardstown Road in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood in the space formerly occupied by Against the Grain and one of the city's oldest breweries, Cumberland Brewery, which closed in 2019.
Borsch, who owns Burger Girl and Burger Boy in Louisville, opened the first Old Louisville Tavern on South Fourth Street with Lukemire in 2013, with Hillcrest Tavern to follow on Frankfort Avenue in 2019.
The New Albany Tavern will be similar to Borsch and Lukemire's other restaurants. Although they don't have to do much to the building, they plan on making it their own.
Because the kitchen at the New Albany location is smaller, Borsch and Lukemire said they will have to offer a "slightly smaller" menu.
"The kitchen is a little smaller, but it is bringing us back to our roots when we started the Old Louisville Tavern almost 12 years ago in May of 2013," the Jan. 2 Facebook post said.
The co-owners said they hope to open in April and be open daily, but nothing official has been set yet.
