LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sazerac is planning on expanding its presence in southern Indiana.
Sazerac is making a $38 million investment in Northwest Ordinance Distilling, which it operates in New Albany.
New Albany City Council approved a local property tax abatement for the company on Thursday.
The investment will add 25 new full-time jobs on top of the 357 people already employed there.
“This expansion marks an exciting next step for our New Albany operation,” Jake Wenz, Sazerac CEO and president, said in a news release. “As demand for our products continues to grow, this investment will help us better serve our customers while reinforcing our commitment to the New Albany community. We’re grateful to the City of New Albany and One Southern Indiana for their ongoing partnership and support, which make growth like this possible.”
The company said in a news release the expansion will allow the distiller to "increase production capacity to meet growing demand for its distilled spirits products."
"This expansion reflects the strength of our local workforce and exemplifies the city's ongoing commitment to supporting quality job creation," New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan said in a news release.
The distillery has been in business in New Albany since 2017, at the former site of the General Mills facility on Grant Line Road.
