LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new hotel is now open in NuLu, just in time for the Kentucky Derby.
Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu celebrated its grand opening Wednesday on East Jefferson Street.
Tempo includes 130 rooms, a meeting space, a private dining and event space, and five signature Wellness Rooms.
The hotel will also offer several dining options, including Moonsong Café, and a full-service rooftop restaurant called High Stakes Grill, which will open this summer.
"I think NuLu should be thrilled. We are about 80% tourism-based on a daily basis, so having a third place right here in the neighborhood for people to eat, sleep and play is really beneficial for everybody, restaurants, retail, everything included," said Katie Meinhart, president of the NuLu Business Association.
The hotel is co-owned by First Hospitality Group and Weyland Ventures.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg helped celebrate the big day by declaring May 1 as "Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu Day."
