LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Union workers at Jim Beam plan to strike at midnight tonight.

Jim Beam is located in Clermont, Kentucky.

Even after help from a federal mediator, more than 90 percent of the union voted to reject the company's proposed contract. The union says it's open to meeting with Beam Suntory again before the contract expires tonight.

A representative from Beam Suntory says it hopes to have positive news about negotiations soon.

Japanese company Suntory Holdings acquired Jim Beam in 2014, as part of a $16 billion deal.
