LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- UPS celebrated 25 years of its partnership with a program that provides students with debt-free college education.
For more than two decades, the Metropolitan College Program has provided nearly 23,000 Louisville UPS workers with access to college.
More than 13,000 degrees and certificates have been given out through the initiative.
On Thursday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and local leaders visited UPS Worldport to commemorate the program's 25th anniversary and talk about the future of education and growth in Louisville.
"One of the ways that we're focused on is ensuring that more people in Louisville get more degrees to provide more opportunity for themselves and their families," Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said.
There are nearly 1,200 students currently enrolled in the Metro College Program for the fall semester.
