Churchill Downs (5/4/24)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Wednesday of Kentucky Derby Week now has a special name and will support local nonprofits.

Churchill Downs announced Friday an exciting new initiative for Kentucky Derby Week with the introduction of “Winsday: Great Thrills for the Greater Good,” presented by Resolute Racing.

The special event will focus on supporting nonprofit organizations across the Kentuckiana region. As part of the effort, Churchill Downs has partnered with the Community Foundation of Louisville to give 50 local nonprofits a unique opportunity to raise funds.

Each organization has received a dedicated ticket link to share with supporters, and for every box seat ticket purchased through these links, Churchill Downs will donate $5 to that nonprofit.

“Winsday is a new Kentucky Derby Week event that will make a direct impact on the lives of many across Louisville and the Kentuckiana region,” Casey C. Ramage, Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships, Churchill Downs Racetrack, said in a news release Friday.

Organizations benefiting from “Winsday” include Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, Feed Louisville, The Louisville Orchestra, Kids Cancer Alliance, and many others. The full list of participating nonprofits is available online.

Ticket prices are set at $32 for 100-level box seats and $39 for 300-level seats. Box seating is communal unless an entire box is purchased.

In addition to ticket sale contributions, participating organizations have a chance to receive extra funding through special cash prizes. Ticket buyers could be randomly selected to unlock an additional $2,000 donation for their chosen nonprofit, increasing the impact of their participation.
