LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A well known statue in Clarksville is getting a facelift.

The Lewis and Clark statue sits right along the Ohio River at Falls of the Ohio State Park. It was put in place 22 years ago, and has never been cleaned.

But, thanks to funds from Indiana's specialty Lewis and Clark license plates, the statue is set for a cleaning.

Crews from Louisville Antique Restoration are helping restore it to its former glory.

"They're taking all the wax off, wax it down," Mike Mustain, member of the Lewis and Clark Indiana foundation, said.

Crews are set to finish the cleaning Wednesday afternoon.
