LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The community gathered at the Cathedral of the Assumption in downtown Louisville Tuesday night to honor the late Pope Francis.
Pope Francis died early Easter Monday after giving one final blessing on Easter.
He is remembered for his kindness and compassion which inspired people all over the world.
Now, Catholics are looking ahead for the next Pope to be chosen.
"I hope that he has the spirit and the hope and the resolve of Pope Francis, who so moved the hearts of so many Catholics and people of other denominations," Archbishop of Louisville Shelton Fabre said.
The Vatican said Pope Francis died of a stroke that put him into a coma and contributed to his heart failing. He was 88 years old.
