LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Search crews in Kentucky have recovered the body of a McCracken County man who was reported missing after his boat was swept away by floodwaters.Â
Lee Chandler, 27, was trying to retrieve his boat when he was pulled under, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.Â
It happened Sunday afternoon, in the 8000 block of Elliot Road in Kevil, Kentucky in McCracken County.
Along with Kentucky State Police, several agencies assisted with the recovery, including: the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, McCracken County Rescue Squad, Ballard County Sheriff’s Department, Ballard County Rescue Squad, Marshall County Rescue Squad, and Trigg County Rescue Squad.
KSP is reminding the public to use extreme caution and avoid flooded areas as water continues to rise in many areas. Never drive, walk, or attempt to swim into floodwaters, as the conditions below the water are unknown and flood currents are often much stronger than they appear on the surface.
