LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is in the hospital after a shooting in the Algonquin neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD asked the public to stay away from an active situation in the 900 block of Algonquin Parkway for several hours after a report of a shooting around 2:15 p.m. When police responded to the shooting, they didn't find a victim on scene. But a man arrived at UofL Health's Mary and Elizabeth Hospital by private means a short time after the shooting.

The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was shot in the arm. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and is stable.
Police were told by witnesses that the alleged suspect fled into a home in the 900 block of Algonquin Parkway, thus police established a perimeter and called for SWAT, according to LMPD Sgt. Matt Sanders.
After a substantial amount of time, SWAT entered into the home but no one was inside, according to Sanders. Police believe the suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving.

"When I come here, I don't bring my son because you never know what might happen," said Rhonda Brown-Jones, a neighbor. "It happens everywhere, but it's really hard when it's in your neighborhood."
Brown-Jones worries the violence could affect businesses in the area. Brian Mundy, who lives near the home, was concerned about the incident.
"It's just sad that's it's just become commonplace now for us to expect these things to happen anywhere at any time," Mundy said.
Dozens of drivers stopped at the scene to ask what happened. Algonquin Parkway is now back open.
LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Squad is investigating the incident.
