LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A $2,000 reward was announced Wednesday for anyone in Louisville reporting information that could lead to an arrest and the seizure of stolen guns.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives partnered with Kentuckiana Crime Stoppers for the new public safety initiative, which was announced Wednesday by the Highland Commerce Guild.
The initiative is focused on gun theft and removing guns used in crimes from the streets. The Louisville Metro Police Department has often said many crimes in the community are committed with stolen guns.
So the program is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and seizure of stolen guns.
"The initiative encourages the residents and businesses to be proactive in making the Highlands a safer community," Nick Guild, vice president of the Highland Commerce Guild, said Wednesday. "So we want everybody to be alert and be willing to step forward.
Tips can be provided anonymously to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 502-582-CLUE. Officials say the program will be offered across the entire Louisville community.
