LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were arrested for dealing methamphetamine after Indiana State Police troopers stopped to help free their vehicle from the snow.
Troopers were patrolling State Road 64 near Birdseye, in Jasper, just after 11 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, when they saw a vehicle stuck in the snow on a side county road, ISP said in a news release Friday. The driver and passenger were identified as Darlene Jacobsen, of Jasper, and Darrel Harris, of Huntingburg.
More officers arrived to help free the vehicle. During that time, ISP said one of the troopers "recognized indicators of criminal activity."
A Dubois County Sheriff's Office sergeant and his K-9 partner responded to the scene, where the dog indicated to police that there were narcotics present. Officers searched the area and found a large bag with 33.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
ISP said Jacobsen, 48, showed signs of impairment. She was arrested and taken to a local medical center for a chemical test before being transported to the Dubois County Jail. Harris, 35, was also taken to the jail.
Both were charged with dealing and possessing methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Jacobsen was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Harris was also charged with visiting a common nuisance.
Jacobsen and Harris are being held in the Dubois County Jail on bond.
