LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two southern Indiana parents are facing charges of battery on a child.
According to a written statement from Indiana State Police, the parents of a 5-month-old were arrested Tuesday after an investigation began into the injuries the child sustained while in their care.
Police said the investigation began on May 15 when ISP responded to Norton Children's Hospital after the child was taken there from Jefferson County, Indiana with "suspicious injuries."
The child was allegedly in the custody of the mother, 24-year-old Makayla Turner and father, 28-year-old Skyler Hoffman-Jenkins, both of Hanover, Indiana, when the injuries happened.
Warrants were issued for their arrests at the end of the investigation and both parents face six felony counts on charges related to battery on a child under the age of 14 with bodily injury and neglect of a dependent.
They were taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Madison, Ind. Their booking photos were not immediately available.Â
