LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Shively Police are investigating a fatal triple shooting near Dixie Highway Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of Crums Lane, off Dixie Highway, around 5:20 p.m. on the reported shooting, according to Sgt. Jordan Brown, a spokesperson for Shively Police.
Police said it happened at an apartment complex across the street from Butler High School.
Police have not yet released the names of the victims or the reason for their presence in the apartment. However, one chilling fact remains—they died within minutes of each other.
“All appear to be in their early 20s,” Brown said. “But again, we’ll have to get more information to completely identify them.”
Brown said there are no suspects, but do not believe there is a threat to the community.
Across the parking lot, a young man who identified himself as Montana watched from his front porch, shaken by the violence so close to home.
“It’s tragic,” he said.
Though he did not personally know the victims, the reality of three young lives lost weighed heavily on him.
“Three young dudes—that is sad,” Montna added. “They have mommas, they have lives in front of them and stuff. It is sad.”
Within an hour of the shooting, the parking lot was filled with crime scene investigators and detectives. Residents returning home from work were met with flashing police lights and a sense of unease.
“This is not something that's typical of our city in this area,” Brown said. “It's exceedingly rare. So I don't feel that there's a threat to the community at this time.”
Shively Police continue to investigate the deadly shooting as they work to determine a motive and identify those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Shively Police TIP Line at 502-930-2773.
