CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) — Four people were shot during a party at an apartment complex in southern Indiana, according to Clarksville Police Department.
Clarksville Police Chief Nathan Walls said a large party was happening at The Bend apartment complex on Greentree Boulevard when shots were fired inside an apartment just before midnight.
Four people between the ages of 15 and 20 were shot, all of whom were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Walls said "a lot" of shots were fired.
"It appears to be somewhat of a shootout," Walls said. "This could have been a lot worse.
"It's a miracle we don't have fatalities."
Police said a woman in her 20s, who was an employee at the apartment complex, hosted the party. Police believe more than 100 people attended the party throughout the night.
Walls expects the host of the party to face charges after the incident.
Police said teenagers from all around the area from different schools attended the party. There was underage drinking throughout the night.
"Kids shared a party post on the internet and kids just showed up," Walls said. "There wasn't a violent undertone in the evening. As the night went on the crowd changed."
Walls said police responded within two minutes of the shooting. Police have identified two suspects in the shooting and two guns were found at the scene.
