LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a vehicle on Dixie Highway early Wednesday morning.
LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said officers were called to the 9000 block of Dixie Highway around 5:40 a.m. on initial reports of a shooting. That's between Johnsontown Road and W. Pages Lane. When officers arrived, they found a man who was dead.
During their investigation, officers determined that the man was not shot, but received his injuries from being hit by a car that left the scene, according to Mitchell.
Jefferson County Coroner identified the man hit by the car as 51-year-old Danny Scott Atwell.Â
Officers are investigating the area and speaking to nearby businesses for information.
