LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teenager wanted for the attempted armed robbery of a gas station on Preston Highway in Louisville was arrested Tuesday morning as he was attempting to enter a building at Louisville Male High School.
Male Principal Keith Cathey said in a letter to families Tuesday that a Louisville Metro Police officer who was investigating the attempted robbery spotted the suspect in the school's main parking lot at 4409 Preston Highway. The teen was arrested as he was trying to enter the Gheens building, Cathey said.
"The safety and security of our school, students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate the quick response from LMPD and JCPS Police," Cathey wrote to Male families.
LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said the attempted robbery was reported in the 4200 block of Preston Highway, which is just south of Interstate 264. Bradley said the teenager was arrested "without incident" and charged with first-degree robbery.
He was transported to the city's youth detention center.
