LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Attorneys for the man convicted in the 2017 murder of two teenage girls in Delphi, Indiana, argue his conviction should be vacated.

Richard Allen, 52, was convicted on Nov. 11, 2024, in the killings of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, known as Abby and Libby, in February 2017. A special judge sentenced him in December to 130 years in prison.

A jury found him guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping.

In a 24-page motion filed this week, Allen's defense team takes aim at what they call procedural deficiencies, along with a purported confession from another suspect, reported Tuesday by FOX59 News in Indianapolis.

That suspect was a man who owned property where the girls were killed. Another inmate said the man confessed to the crime, but he was never charged.

Attorneys also argue the murder timeline doesn't match with the video evidence used at trial. They are planning to appeal Allen's conviction.
