LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jefferson County judge has raised the bond for a man accused of killing his wife after he made threats to kill himself and others.

The bond for 41-year-old Tho Luong was originally set at $250,000 in the shooting death of his wife, Kim Ngyuen, who was found dead inside her home on Kenjoy Drive in Louisville's Southland Park neighborhood.

The judge granted the prosecution's request to increase Luong's bond and set it at $1 million.

The investigation started in late January, when police say Luong falsely reported that Nguyen was missing.

Court documents say a detective spoke with Luong's mother after the missing persons report was filed. She told police her son showed up at her home in North Carolina days before he filed the missing persons report.

She said Luong admitted to killing his wife, and told her he planned to kill himself before going on the run. He was arrested by Maryland State Police the day after Ngyuen was found.

Police say there's a history of domestic violence between the couple, and that Luong had previously made several threats on her life.

If Luong does get out of jail, he cannot possess firearms.

A public defender has been appointed to represent Luong, who is scheduled to be back in court later this month.
