A male student found unresponsive early Saturday morning and taken to Taylor Regional Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to LEX18, the Taylor County coroner said the cause of death was asphyxiation by manual strangulation.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Josiah Malachi Kilman.

"That's very rare here," Dongwook Jang, a Campbellsville University senior, said. "I was actually, like, shocked when I first saw that news. I didn't believe it."

In an update, officials said police obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Charles Escalera for murder.

Shortly before 6 p.m., another campus alert was sent stating that Escalera was arrested by police and the university was lifting the lockdown.

According to police, he was spotted by a local farmer in his barn and Kentucky State Police arrested him.

"I can't imagine the pain the family is going through," Jang, said. "I'm pretty sure he's in a good place right now with the only God he trusted and I'm sure his families think the same way as I do."

Kilman and Escalara were on the wrestling team together at Campbellsville University.
