LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police are investigating after a man was shot and killed and another man injured in the parking lot of a Louisville elementary school.
MetroSafe tells WDRB the shooting was reported at 5:57 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Crums Lane Elementary in the 3200 block of South Crums Lane.
Officers responded to the school campus on a report of shots fired and located two men, believed to be in their 20s, according to LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Smiley said police are in the early stages of investigating what led up to the shooting, but they are "not ruling anything out."
Neighbors told WDRB news they heard several shots come from the area.
"I was just coming home from work, you know, minding my own business," Layla Hood said. "I saw two guys who were walking on the opposite side of the road and five minutes later, when I get in my house and settled down, I heard like six or seven shots."
Police are unsure why the men were at the school, Smiley said. There were no after school or extracurricular activities going on at the time of the shooting that police were aware of.
There are no suspects, and there have been no arrests in the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact LMPD's anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD (5673).
