LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized two shipments that arrived in Louisville from Hong Kong with dozens of counterfeit watches.

The shipments were found in Louisville with 53 counterfeit watches mimicking items made by Richard Mille, Rolex, Hublot, Cartier, Swarovski, G-Shock and Patek Philippe.

If they were real, the shipments would have contained $6.6 million in watches.

"Intellectual property theft threatens America’s economic vitality and funds criminal activities and organized crime," LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, director of field operations for the Chicago Field Office, said in a news release. "When consumers purchase counterfeit goods, legitimate companies lose revenue, which can force those companies to cut jobs. Our officers are dedicated to protecting private industry and consumers by removing these kinds of shipments from our commerce."

CBP said in a news release Monday that the shipments were addressed to residences in Union City, Georgia, and Doral, Florida.
