LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The former director of Louisville's youth detention center was sentenced for crashing a city-owned car and leaving the scene.

Toni Rice was sentenced to five years probation by a Louisville judge Thursday morning.

She pleaded guilty in January to several charges, including failure to stop and render aid, tampering with evidence, tampering with a witness, intimidation and official misconduct. According to court documents, she also must pay $21,000 in restitution.

In July 2024, her crashed city car was found in a ditch off Brownsboro Road.

Rice tried to get others to lie about the incident before she resigned a month later Aug. 20.
