LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The former Jackson County auditor was arrested Friday and is facing multiple charges including fraud and theft.

The investigation began in April 2024 when the Indiana State Board of Accounts discovered possible miscount by 44-year-old Staci Eglen. She resigned from her position soon after the investigation started.

Detectives determined that Eglen changed two invoices for goods and services and submitted them to the Jackson County Treasurer's Office to be reimbursed.

She then deposited the checks into her personal bank accounts.

Eglen also received two checks from the Treasurer's Office that were supposed to be used in her capacity as an employee but she deposited them and received cash for personal purchases.

According to ISP, Eglen allegedly obtained an excess of $18,000 from the country through fraud and theft.

She was booked into the Jackson County Jail and has been initially charged with official misconduct, theft and fraud.
