The arrest came after an investigation that began from a cyber tip.
Ten of the images recovered from his cellphone were distributed over social media, court documents claim.
Marsili is facing 20 charges of possession matter sex performance by a minor and 10 charges of distribution of obscene matter.
He pled not guilty in court Saturday and had a cash bond set for $75,000. His next court date is scheduled for May 19.
Marsili was placed on leave by the University of Louisville Friday when the school was notified of the charges, according to spokesperson John Karman. Karman said the university is fully cooperating with law enforcement.
