LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were arrested early Thursday morning after a pursuit and manhunt in Scott County.
Indiana State Police said in a news release Thursday that Trooper Clay Boley initiated a traffic stop after clocking the vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Equinox, traveling north on Interstate 65 at a high rate of speed. Upon approaching the vehicle, Boley saw the car with three people it and suspected drug use inside.
The driver was later identified as 31-year-old Frederick Joseph Lewis IV of Illinois. A female was in the passenger's seat and identified herself as the car's registered owner. Both had suspended licenses.
Trooper Tom Basham arrived on the scene to assist, but, as Boley began to re-approach the Equinox, the car fled the scene. The pursuit continued off the Scottsburg exit on I-65 and began driving west on State Road 56 where several officers from surrounding counties joined.
Tire deflation devices slowed the vehicle and eventually came to a stop in the tree line in a field at the corner of North Lake Road and West Weir Road
Indiana State Police arrested Lewis and the female passenger. A Scott County sheriff's deputy had to begin a K-9 track, as the backseat passenger fled into the woods. The Clarksville Police Department and the Clark County EMA began a drone search.
Not long after, officers were able to locate the passenger and take him into custody. He was later identified as 25-year-old Christopher T. Johnson of Illinois. Further investigation revealed Johnson was wanted on a parole violation warrant from Illinois.
No drugs or contraband were located in the vehicle.
Both Lewis and Johnson were taken to the Scott County Jail. Their charges are listed as:
