JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana man who was jailed without bond after he was charged with killing his wife on Valentine's Day was in court Wednesday to ask the judge to set a reasonable bond in the case or release him on his own recognizance.

Police arrested Taylor Meyer in the late evening hours of Feb. 14 at a home the couple shared in the 6600 block of Westwood Drive after responding to a call from a friend of the victim reporting that she was in danger, according to court documents. Investigators arrived to find Meyer's wife dead at the scene. She had been beaten and stabbed dozens of times, according to court documents.

The couple's three young children were inside the home when the incident occurred.

Investigators said Meyer admitted to sending pictures of his wife's body to a family group text. He also told police he was upset because he believed his wife was seeing another man, and she seemed cold and distant during a special evening he had planned for Valentine's Day.

During Thursday's bail review hearing, Judge Nicholas Karaffa heard testimony from a defense witness and a detective on the case. The state requested there be no changed to the bond status.

Karaffa took Meyer's request under advisement and issued a ruling Wednesday afternoon denying the request. The order stated that the Court found Meyer is a flight risk, and "the state has shown by a preponderance of the evidence that proof is evident and the presumption strong."

Meyer's trial is scheduled for July 15.
