SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WDRB) — Indiana State Police arrested an Austin man after a crash in Scott County that seriously injured two people, including a child.

State police said the crash happened Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Marshfield Road, just north of Scottsburg. Investigators said a Toyota Camry driven by Jacob E. Boley, 25, of Austin collided with a Buick occupied by an adult driver and a 7-year-old child. Both occupants of the Buick were wearing seat belts.

Due to the severity of injuries, the child was flown to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, police said. The adult driver was taken by ambulance to UofL Health Hospital in Louisville.

Police said state troopers checked Boley for signs of intoxication as the sheriff's department continued the crash investigation. Based on the results of field sobriety tests, Boley was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a Level 4 felony; operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony; and operating while intoxicated with endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police said Boley was evaluated at a local hospital before he was booked into the Scott County Jail. All charges remain preliminary pending review by the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office.
