LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Corydon woman died after fleeing from police on Saturday evening, according to Indiana State Police.
ISP said a trooper was patrolling eastbound on State Road 62 when he saw a vehicle going northbound on Wall Street in Harrison County around 7:30 p.m. The driver went through a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 62 and Water Street in downtown Corydon.
Police said the 2003 Chevy Suburban SUV didn't slow down and crossed the highway, so the trooper activated his police lights and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The Suburban then made a U-turn and passed by the trooper and turned west onto State Road 62.
The Suburban left the right side of the roadway near the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and crashed into a tree. The driver, who hasn't been identified yet, was ejected from the vehicle and died.
ISP is investigating the crash. Police said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
