LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Lexington man was found guilty Thursday of raping a woman in Louisville in 2005.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said George Aldridge will be sentenced Nov. 5 after Thursday's verdict.
The victim in the case passed away years after the rape.
"Although the victim in this case is no longer with us, we are grateful that the jury in this case has given justice to her and her family," Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers said in a news release Thursday. "Our prosecutors have worked diligently since the indictment of the defendant two years ago on this charge. This has been a complicated case with multiple layers, one that has relied on the collaboration of multiple agencies and jurisdictions for success. Our commitment is always to getting justice and holding those responsible accountable, no matter how long it takes.
Aldridge was indicted in February 2023 in Fayette County for three sexual assaults that spanned from 2009-16 and faced an additional indictment for a sexual assault that occurred in Louisville in 2005.
He was arrested on multiple charges, including three counts of kidnapping, two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree sodomy and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
