LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A domestic violence situation led to a Washington County, Kentucky, man facing multiple attempted murder charges.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Kentucky State Police Post 15 received a report of domestic violence at a home on Saint Rose Lebanon Road in Springfield. That's about 45 miles east of Elizabethtown.

Trooper Jonathan Houk said KSP and the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded and were met with gunfire as the officers exited their vehicles.

Houk said Bradley Couch, 37, of Springfield, fired several rounds at the officers. According to court documents, police later found nine spent rounds outside of the side door of the home.

Officers gave Couch verbal commands to exit the house. Houk said Couch complied and was arrested without further incident.

According to court documents, a woman and children were inside the home when Couch started shooting at police. Couch told police he was "shooting into the woods to scare police off" according to the arrest citation. The citation also said one of the children told police Couch slapped the woman when they were at a restaurant.

Couch is charged with attempted murder of a police officer, two counts of attempted murder, 4th degree assault, and wanton endangerment.

Couch has since posted a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in court again on Dec. 30.
