LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested in connection to a January homicide in which a man was killed after he was hit by a car while hanging on the outside of another.
Louisville Metro Police said a man hanging outside of a vehicle died when he was hit by another car Jan. 23. Officers were called around 7 p.m. to the area of South 4th Street and Winkler Avenue — not far from the University of Louisville campus — on a report that a person had been hit by a vehicle.
Police initially said the driver of the vehicle "reportedly swerved into oncoming traffic intentionally," hitting another vehicle. That caused the man to collide with that vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
And police initially believed the driver of the vehicle was detained but later said the person they stopped wasn't responsible. In February, LMPD posted a picture of a person of interest. On Thursday evening, the department announced 33-year-old Desean Neal was charged with murder in connection to the incident.
He was already in custody at LMDC on unrelated charges.
Neal has been initially charged with murder, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, theft, escape and tampering with a prisoner monitoring device.
