LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 36-year-old man was indicted by a Jefferson County Grand Jury on a murder charge in connection to a shooting in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said Dontez Edwards was indicted on charges of murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and unlawful transaction with a minor.

Police responded to the 2100 block of West Market Street about 7:15 p.m. Sept. 28 on a reported shooting.

When police arrived on scene, they found a man who had been shot. Police said life-saving measures were given, but the man died at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy was previously arrested and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a minor in connection to the shooting.

Edwards was already in custody on unrelated charges.
