LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man convicted of the 2021 murder of a man in the Russell neighborhood was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison.

Kenyatta James was arrested months after the shooting at his home on Rockford Lane. According tot he arrest report, the murder happened Feb. 5, 2021, at the home of Stephon Monroe on West Madison Street, near South 23rd Street. Police said James and Monroe were having an argument on the phone over James' daughter when James showed up at Monroe's house. 

He then pulled a gun and shot Monroe several times, according to police.

Officers arrived a short time later, and Monroe was pronounced dead at the scene.
