LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are asking for the public's help finding two men in connection to "one of the worst cases" of animal cruelty the department has seen.
John Amato and William Grieshaber are wanted for second degree animal cruelty, LMPD said in a social media post Friday afternoon. They're accused of moving from a home and leaving eight dogs behind and neglected, covered in feces and had started eating drywall.
Police said Louisville Metro Animal Services responded to a complaint over the summer that multiple dogs were being mistreated at a home on Possibility Way. That's off Westport Road in east Louisville.
"What they found is one of the worst cases we've seen," LMPD said.
Police said the smell of feces and urine coming from the home was so strong, it could be smelled from the street.
Seven of the eight dogs have since been adopted, LMPD said. The department's Animal Cruelty detective is working with LMAS to arrest Amato and Grieshaber.
Anyone with information is asked to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously online through the Crime Tip Portal by clicking here.
