Louisville woman accused of trying to hit victim with car, throwing pet chinchilla out of window

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville woman was arrested last month after police said she tried to hit a victim with her car and threw a pet chinchilla out of the window.

According to an arrest citation, Champelle Greene is accused of violating an active emergency protective order when she showed up to the victim's home May 28.

Police said during an argument, Greene picked up a pair of pliers and a set of wrenches and threw them at the windshield of the victim's vehicle, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage to the windshield and hood of the car.

Greene allegedly got into her vehicle and drove away but returned and attempted to hit the victim with her vehicle. Police said she then threw a pet chinchilla she had purchased for the victim's child out of the car window while she was driving away. It's not clear whether the animal was injured.

Police said she and the victim were previously romantically involved with one another.

Greene was charged with wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, violating a Kentucky EPO and cruelty to animals.

According to court documents, Greene pleaded not guilty to the charges at her arraignment Friday morning, and judge Anne Delahanty set her bond at $25,000 cash. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 6.
