LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Nearly one year after a Louisville mother was shot and killed while walking her daughter to a bus stop, police are still looking for the suspect.
During a news conference Wednesday, Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey mentioned the case while talking about back-to-school safety and again asked for anyone with information to come forward.
"There is someone who is the key to bringing that family justice," Humphrey said. "And that little girl, that family, they deserve that closure."
Redaja Williams, 24, was shot multiple times and killed around 8 a.m. Aug. 13, 2025, near 10th and Chestnut streets as she walked her daughter to a bus stop.
Detectives said at the time Williams was the intended target. Surveillance video showed a suspect wearing a red hoodie and black pants pull out a gun and fire multiple shots at her.
Williams was killed in front of her daughter, family members and other parents and children waiting at the bus stop. Nearly one year later, no arrests have been made in the case.
The shooting happened less than a week after another shooting at the same bus stop on the first day of school. In that case, two 15-year-olds were charged after an "exchange of gunfire."
