LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a teenager in connection to the shots fired near a school bus stop on West Chestnut Street.
LMPDs First Division, with support from the Criminal Interdiction Division, arrested a 15-year-old male, according to a news release from LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
The teen faces dozens of charges, including 33Â counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor.
The shooting happened around 8:07 a.m. on Thursday between the 900 and 1100 blocks of West Chestnut Street, near Central High School and Coleridge-Taylor Montessori Elementary.
Police at the time said a man fired a gun in the 1000 block of West Chestnut before fleeing on foot. Several 911 callers reported hearing gunshots in the area, but officers did not find any victims at the scene.
LMPD sent WDRB News the following statement:
"This reckless act endangered lives and will not be tolerated. LMPD remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable. We thank our dedicated detectives and the community members who helped make this arrest possible. The investigation is ongoing, and we urge anyone with additional information to come forward."
