LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman accused of causing a crash while driving impaired with her children in the car over the weekend faced a judge Monday.
It happened just before midnight Sunday, according to court documents. Police said 33-year-old Tori Tinsley left the scene of a crash after she hit a vehicle while driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Baxter Avenue, near Edenside Drive.
As officers were responding the scene, they were told the driver was trying to leave the scene. Police said they found Tinsley and her two children hiding in the bushes in the 1500 block of Eastern Parkway. Tinsley at first denied driving the car but admitted to officers at the scene that she smoked spice earlier in the day, according to court documents.Â
Police said the license plate on the 2002 Ford Focus Tinsley was driving was invalid, and her driver's license is suspended. Officers got permission to search the car and found a "green, flaky substance in a plastic baggie in the area between the driver seat and the driver door on the floorboard," according to the arrest slip.Â
She's facing nine charges, including criminal abuse, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, three counts of wanton endangerment, obscuring the identity of a machine and possession of synthetic drugs.Â
The judge set Tinsley's bond at $10,000 cash and scheduled her next court date for Jan. 13.Â
