LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 35-year-old man was arrested after trying to take a newborn child from a Louisville hospital, according to court documents.
According to an arrest report, Louisville Metro Police responded to a hospital after Christopher Reid allegedly tried to take the child without the consent of doctors, nursing staff or mother. Hospital staff told police they were trying to provide care to the child.
When police tried to take the child from Reid, he reportedly bit the officer's right hand. Police said after the child was taken from Reid, he prepared to fight and said they would learn a lesson.
Police told Reid he could leave the hospital, but he refused. Police then asked Reid if he was going to fight, and he responded yes, according to police.
Police said officers tried to put Reid in custody, but he resisted by kicking at officers. He was soon handcuffed by police.
According to police, Reid also made threats to harm the mother of the child.
Reid was charged with menacing, resisting arrest and assault of a police officer or probation officer.
