LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting outside a popular stretch of late-night bars and restaurants on Baxter Avenue in the Highlands that left two dead and one injured.

Louisville Metro Police said Richie Williams, 37, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

LMPD Spokesperson John Bradley said officers responded to the 900 block of Baxter Avenue, between Highland Avenue and Broadway, around 1:45 a.m. Sunday on a report of shots fired.

When the first officers arrived at the scene, they found three victims: one man who died at the scene, and another man who was taken to UofL Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A third victim was taken to Norton Women and Children's Hospital, and is expected to survive.

Montay Wade, 29, and Michael Bachelor Jr., 20,  both died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said Wednesday.

Thursday, LMPD said Williams was arrested with help from the department's Fugitive Unit, Homicide Unit, Air Unit, SWAT, and officers from the Shively Police Department.

Bradley said Thursday Williams is accused in Wade's death.

Bachelor's death is still an open investigation.
