LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Virginia man was arrested Friday in southern Indiana, facing a litany of charges after his high-speed chase police ended with a drug seizure.

Indiana State Police said Tuesday that troopers responded to Interstate 64 near Corydon on Friday night after a driver called 911 to report a Mercedes Benz was driving recklessly. That same car was involved in a police pursuit earlier Friday in western Indiana, ISP said, but officers there stopped the chase as the driver got away.

Then around 2:30 p.m. Friday, a responding Harrison County sheriff's deputy saw the car going 120 miles per hour on the shoulder of the interstate.

ISP Trooper Jeremy Simcoe caught up with the car on State Road 135, where the driver did a U-turn to get back onto I-64. After getting back on headed west, ISP said the car turned left into the median and got stuck.

Mitchell Ray Lassiter Jr., 41, of Hampton, Virginia, got out of the car and ran, trying to climb a nearby rock wall near the on-ramp.

Simcoe caught Lassiter there and arrested him without incident. Simcoe later found marijuana and 61 grams of methamphetamine in the car.

Lassiter is charged with possession of methamphetamine, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and reckless driving. He was taken to the Harrison County jail.
