LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Florida is extraditing Ronald Exantus back to Kentucky.

He was released from prison in early October after serving half of his 20 year sentence for stabbing a 6-year-old to death in his bed in 2015 in Versailles, Kentucky.

Exantus was arrested in Marion County, Florida last week, after he was found living next to a school, according to LEX18. He also failed to register as a convicted felon.

The Marion County, Florida sheriff was blunt about the arrest in news conference announcing the extradition of Exantus back to Kentucky.

“The house he was living in is circled in red,” Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said. “That’s literally less than probably 40 yards from the school entrance. An individual that has already killed a 6-year-old, stabbed his sister, and if it weren’t for his father, probably would have gone even further — next to one of my schools. Will not tolerate it. Kentucky, if you’re listening, keep their a**** in your state.”

In 2015, Exantus broke into a home in Versailles, Kentucky, and killed 6-year-old Logan Tipton.

He also stabbed Logan’s sister and assaulted their father. A jury found Exantus not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.

He was sentenced to 20 years and served about nine after earning time off for good behavior.

Exantus was released six months early under Kentucky’s mandatory reentry supervision program. But he failed to register as a felon in Florida within 48 hours of moving there, as required by law.

Officers took him back to jail on a misdemeanor and for violating his probation.

Exantus will be extradited back to Kentucky to face a judge.
