LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — More than $25 million in counterfeit jewelry was recently seized in Louisville.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said officers at Louisville Worldport intercepted five shipments containing about 2,200 pieces of fake designer jewelry over the span of two nights.
The first shipment arrived from China Thursday, June 19, heading to a home in Pennsylvania. That shipment contained more than 300 counterfeit Cartier bracelets.
Another shipment Thursday night from Hong Kong destined for a home in Tampa contained fake about 400 necklaces, 200 pairs of earrings and 80 rings with Van Cleef and Arpels trademarks.Â
Friday, CBP seized three shipments from China, each containing 800 fake Cartier bracelets, headed to homes in North Carolina and Michigan.Â
If genuine, all of the counterfeit jewelry would be worth $25 million in total.Â
