LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The mother of an 8-year-old boy from Madisonville, Kentucky, who died from a fentanyl overdose has been arrested.
Whitney Person, 35, the mother of Trey Harris, was arrested by Madisonville police on Friday on charges of manslaughter and trafficking fentanyl.
Harris died March 15. Officials initially believed he died from an allergic reaction to strawberries bought at a school fundraiser, but the coroner's office said the boy actually died from a fentanyl overdose.Â
The boy's stepfather, Antonio Person, 33, was arrested earlier this week and charged with manslaughter, several drug charges, including fentanyl trafficking. His bond was set at $1 million.
Whitney Person is being held without bond at the Hopkins County Jail.
