LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An inmate that escaped from the Shelby County Detention Center didn't get far.
Shelbyville Police posted on social media that Eric Cooper, 21, of Louisville was able to escape the jail on foot about 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for Cooper on the ground and in the air. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said he was found after about two hours on the run.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office posted a picture of Cooper still in a dirty black and white jail-issued jumpsuit, as he was being taken into custody.
Shelbyville Police Department Detective Brandon Pennington and Shelby County Deputy Jeff McClellan found Cooper hiding near a business. He was taken into custody without incident.
Cooper now faces an additional charge of Escape 2nd degree.
Agencies that helped track the fugitive included the Shelbyville Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Simpsonville Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Louisville Metro Police Air Unit.
