LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police arrested a 66-year-old man accused of multiple assaults near Old Louisville. 

Gabe Payne, 66, was arrested Thursday on two counts of assault, fleeing police and disorderly conduct.

According to his arrest citation, the first incident happened Sunday, June 15. Louisville police said Payne went up to a man in a wheelchair on 4th and York and hit him multiple times in the back of the head, causing multiple cuts to his head.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Payne ran away from the scene on foot, the citation said. 

Police said the second assault happened Thursday in the 800 block of South 4th Street, where a person had been assaulted with a chain. Officers found Payne in the area and arrested him.

According to his citation, Payne admitted to both assaults. 

Payne was arraigned in court Friday morning, where the judge entered a not guilty plea and set an all-cash bond at $100,000. He is due back in court June 30.
