LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police officers recovered an ambulance minutes after it was stolen from an ER bay downtown.
Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for LMPD, said the St. Matthews ambulance was stolen from the bay at Jewish Hospital downtown around 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the crew was inside the hospital with a patient.
Officers found the ambulance abandoned on South Jackson Street, between Main and Market streets, about three minutes later.
Sanders said the ambulance had some minor damage from the suspect hitting a pole while leaving the hospital.
Police are taking inventory of the ambulance, and searching the area while detectives investigate. There are no suspects at this time and no arrests have been made.
