LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man is now facing charges in connection to the death of a nine-year-old boy last summer in Indianapolis.
Eamon Goodrich and his family, who are from New Albany, were returning home from a vacation in Michigan on July 25, 2024 when a semi crashed into their car. The crash happened in a construction zone, and the semi driver didn't slow down.
Chris Goodrich, Eamon's father, was in the ICU for several days following the crash. His five-year-old daughter, Brynn, was also injured in the crash.
Thursday, charges of reckless homicide and criminal recklessness were filed against Dieuson Leron, and a warrant is now out for his arrest.
According to a state police report, Leron was at fault in the crash that killed Eamon, saying Leron was following too closely and driving too fast in a semi.
The Goodrich family had previously filed a civil lawsuit against Leron and his employers.
In a statement sent to WDRB through their attorney, Chris and Natalie Goodrich said:
"We appreciate the time and effort of the Marion County Prosecutor and the Indiana State Police team. We understand that ongoing patience is required as we continue to seek justice for our family.
A number of distressing facts were made public yesterday. We have been presented with information that is difficult to hear and will take time to process.
As we continue to move forward in a world that is no longer brightened by Eamon’s presence, we are thankful for the love and support of family, friends, and our community."
