LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police have released more details in an Indianapolis crash that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old from New Albany.Â
Police said Chris Goodrich was driving on Interstate 465 near U.S. 31 on Indianapolis' south side Thursday, July 25 during the afternoon rush hour when a semi crashed into several cars including his. Nine-year-old Eamon Goodrich, of New Albany, was killed in the crash. Both Chris and his five-year-old daughter Brynn were taken to an Indianapolis hospital. Brynn is expected to be okay.
The man was was sent to the ICU but was awake and recovering just days later.
The report states the semi drive told police traffic slowed down too much, which caused him to swerve and slam on his brakes. His trailer then jackknifed.
Police said alcohol and drugs weren't a factor, but the driver had already been over his allotted driving hours for the day, which drivers can be cited for.
There have been no criminal charges filed against the driver.
The family's church, First Christian Church, in Jeffersonville is asking for prayers and donations for the family. The church is encouraging people to donate to this fund which has already raised more than $10,000.
